Welcome to East Midlands Voluntary Youth (EMVY)

Formed in 2000 by voluntary youth groups and networks across the region, EMVY aims to be an inclusive and diverse network for the voluntary youth sector, providing strategic support, influence and advocacy at a regional level.

This website is the result of the EMVY Conference in May 2006, where delegates recognised the need for a regional website to provide resources and information to help people working in the field, and also to have capacity for any youth group or organisation to have their space within this regional site.

East Midlands Voluntary Youth & East Midlands Regional Youth Work Unit

A proposed way forward for East Midlands Voluntary Youth (EMVY) and East Midlands Regional Youth Work Unit (EMRWYU)

Following the public consultation that took place during Autmn 2007, The East Midlands Regional Youth Work Unit (EMRYWU) and East Midlands Voluntary Youth have agreed to work more closely together and where possible to pool resources to benefit the Youth Work Sector. Together with the Youth & Community Work Training Agencies (YCWTA), we have a three way partnership and have a fully endorsed Memorandum of Understanding that took effect on 1 August 2008.

The new strucutre continues to serve the youth work sector, (13 – 25 years), and includes the statutory, voluntary, independent, private and educational establishments. Involvement and work with networks that support children, young people and families (0 – 25 years) is also seen as essential work.

To take our joint work forward, we have a joint Action Plan for the next 12 months. EMVY shall continue to provide valuable support to the voluntary youth sector, which the EMVY Board believes can be enhanced through working with the EMRYWU and YCWTA and other partners in the region.
